Scarecrow Has a Gun

Never trust other people's memories. And be careful of your own.

Sean Whittlesea was there when his wife was murdered. He watched the light fade from her eyes. He held her lifeless body in his arms. He remembers weeping.

But everything else is gone.

Haunted by the tragedy, Sean has spent years desperately trying to reconstruct the moments surrounding his wife's death. His imagination supplies an endless parade of possibilities, each more disturbing than the last. But the truth remains locked somewhere inside his mind, beyond his reach.

Nearly twenty years later, Sean has rebuilt his life. Remarried and raising two children, he appears to have found a measure of peace. Then he wins an unusual contest organized by his eccentric boss. The prize is the Memory Palace, a mysterious, state-of-the-art device that promises to retrieve and display every moment its owner has ever experienced.

For Sean, it's an irresistible opportunity. At last, he might discover what really happened the night his wife was murdered.

But the Memory Palace offers more than answers. As Sean delves deeper into his past, long-buried revelations begin to unravel his present. His obsession drives a wedge between him and the family he loves, while the memories he uncovers force him to confront truths he may not be prepared to accept.

With his life spiraling out of control and danger closing in, Sean must confront the terrifying possibility that some memories are buried for a reason. Finding the truth could destroy everything he has left.

And remembering may be the most dangerous thing he ever does.
