In Sex, Lies and Poetry the author takes you into the world of a young woman’s search for love and identity in an increasingly fragmented and globalized world. With a distinct voice the author shifts between tough and vulnerable tones. This is not only a book about poetry, but with her camera she captures small snippets of life and the soft spoken visual language strengthens the tone of the poems. With her skewed vision of those small off-moments, she crawls under the skin, of both the reader and her subject.


Jill Johannessen (1966) was born and raised in Bergen, Norway. Several of the poems were written at a time when she was as a young woman searching to establish herself and her biological clock was ticking faster. During this time she lived on three continents in only three years time.
