Publisher Description
After All the Feels and Spoiler Alert, Olivia Dade once again delivers a warm and wonderful romantic comedy about two co-stars who once had an incredible one-night stand—and after years of filming on the same remote island, are finally ready to yield to temptation again…
Maria’s one-night-stand—the thick-thighed, sexy Viking of a man she left without a word or a note—just reappeared. Apparently, Peter’s her surly Gods of the Gates co-star, and they’re about to spend the next six years filming on a desolate Irish island together. She still wants him…but he now wants nothing to do with her.
Peter knows this role could finally transform him from a forgettable character actor into a leading man. He also knows a failed relationship with Maria could poison the set, and he won’t sabotage his career for a woman who’s already walked away from him once. Given time, maybe they can be cooperative colleagues or friends—possibly even best friends—but not lovers again. No matter how much he aches for her.
For years, they don’t touch off-camera. But on their last night of filming, their mutual restraint finally shatters, and all their pent-up desire explodes into renewed passion. Too bad they still don’t have a future together, since Peter’s going back to Hollywood, while Maria’s returning to her native Sweden. She thinks she needs more than he can give her, but he’s determined to change her mind, and he’s spent the last six years waiting. Watching. Wanting.
His shipwrecked Swede doesn’t stand a chance.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
A highly combustible on-set romance sets Olivia Dade’s bawdy romance aflame. Being cast in the TV series Gods of the Gates is the break of a lifetime for actors Peter and Maria. Their chemistry on screen and off is undeniable, but so are the complicated feelings they still carry about that one-night hookup they shared years ago. Now, with the show ending its successful run, a choice looms for the pair. Should they give in to their long-smoldering feelings again or quietly move on to their next roles? Dade—who set her previous rom-coms All the Feels and Spoiler Alert against the backdrop of the same fictional TV production—has every detail of this world figured out. Her saucy style is laced with a truly great message about body positivity. Ship Wrecked is the perfect celebrity romance—one where we can root for everyone involved.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Returning to the world of Dade's Spoiler Alert, this hilarious but clunky rom-com brings together two polar opposite actors both in need of emotional healing. Gregarious Swedish stage actor Maria Ivarsson doesn't expect her relationship with reserved Wisconsinite character actor Peter Reedton to last beyond the steamy one night stand that opens the book, but Peter is furious when Maria sneaks out before dawn, feeling rejected. Tensions run high when they're reunited at an audition for the hit TV show God of the Gates—and their undeniable chemistry lands them roles opposite each other. During filming, Peter thaws to Maria's charms, and she reciprocates his feelings, but Peter insists their relationship remain platonic while they work together and they repeatedly clash over whether to prioritize their emotional health or their professional success. The meandering plot covers six years of filming and "repressed lust" and, once the show wraps, the pair still struggle to balance their competing priorities. It's a bumpy ride full of contrived reasons to keep the couple apart, but some laugh-out-loud running gags—like Peter's phobia of cows—will keep readers engaged. Though not as successful as it could be, there's a solid emotional core here. Readers will want to pick this up for the laughs alone.
