On an old forgotten world, a relic of a fallen empire, a prophet emerges with a solution to the very flaws in the human condition. Resistance is ferocious and more than just Tower and Throne set their hand against the nascent movement.

A young girl struggles with a heart-broken father in a sleepy backwater. Her childhood friend pursues the dream that breaks their fledgling romance and unknowingly re-ignites an incendiary family history, leading to consequences too vast to contemplate.

Into this setting an unlikely figure literally crashes in a trail of fire and fury. His love for literature and his wry, cynical outlook make him a reluctant hero, who is all too aware of his limitations. But hooks of duty are hard to ignore and when he finds that his own war, brought with him from the distant stars, converges with the conflict on the planet and that the ancient and epic blends into one with the personal and modern – he will have to choose, and choose well.
