March, 1924. In a rundown cottage near Crawfordjohn, a wedding dress hangs on the wall. Nancy's life is as cold as the Clyde in winter, but she knows she's going to be a star.



Desperate to escape the poverty of her childhood, Nancy Gibbs dreams of being an actress. Her anxious, spiteful mother expects her to marry a farmer and take care of her family.
