1979 England.
  After witnessing a dockland murder, petty criminal Jimmy Blackthorne escapes from his sleazy past and makes a new career in a new town. His latest job is hunting for an aristocratic runaway daughter with a taste for the bohemian lifestyle and whilst hoping for a bumper pay day, Jimmy is about to find out that life is no bowl of cherries for the hired help.
  Jimmy soon discovers that in the art world, all that glitters most certainly isn't gold and as past wrongs demand recognition and the bodies start to pile up he slips deeper into psychosis where his dream of big earnings looks more likely to be a golden handshake.
