Four strangers will become intertwined to change the world of Ta’Thaloon forever.

Jathalor is just another scrawny, dirty boy eking out a living in the bustling city of Nathalem. Not many know his name and not many would take the time to learn it. He is not ambitious. Nor is he concerned with politics or kingdom affairs. He wants only to help his pa, but life is not so kind.


Taf lives for King and Kingdom. He has spent his whole life serving others, burying the pain of his youth in routine and discipline. He is renowned and feared for good reason, but even a proficient soldier cannot outrun the ghosts of his past.


Braeron drifts farther from home in search of work and the promise of coin. He does not want trouble, but has a tendency to find it, and he is about to find problems enough to last a lifetime.


Kallimon has spent his whole life working to solve a question that seems to be without an answer. Others have dabbled or mused over the problem before giving up, but Kallimon cannot let it go. Ambition, after all, is impossible to satisfy.
