More than 20 years ago Nyquist and Kagel (NK) coauthored a compendium entitled "Infrared Spectra of Inorganic Compounds: 3800-45cm–1" and these published IR spectra have aided scientists in the analysis and identification of inorganic compounds. All of these IR spectra were of materials prepared as mulls using both Nujol and Fluoroluble as the mulling agents and BaF2, AgCl, and polyethylene as the window support materials. These experimental conditions were employed to avoid spectral interference of the inorganic IR spectrum from absorbance from the mulling agent. In addition, these conditions were utilized to avoid chemical reaction between inorganic window materials and the inorganic chemical.
