Thankful Thorn

Thorn is six and he wishes school wasn't just about sitting at his desk and listening to the teacher talk. He has bigger dreams of working with his dad driving excavators and playing professional basketball. But Thorn doesn't seem to learn like the other kids who can sit at a desk and learn his letters, words, and his left from his right. He needs something more. Mrs. Finch, his first grade teacher, knows exactly what to do. When Thorn gets to school one morning, he sees Mrs. Finch out at the basketball court, ready to teach him his left from his right hand as well as some stellar moves on the court. Will this change everything for Thorn? Will he be able to do the things he wants to and learn in new ways because of one person who believes in him?



About the Author



I have been an elementary school teacher for 24 years. I have seen so many children like Thorn walk through my classroom door. I always hope I can make a difference in their lives like Mrs. Finch made a difference in Thorn's life.



I live with my family in Northern Vermont at our home where I can drink my coffee on the front deck every morning and watch the sunrise.



I'm currently writing my second book about dragons for older elementary aged students.
