The Broken Archive

In The Broken Archive, we follow Sibongile, a once-rebellious librarian in a post-uprising society where archives have become tools of erasure rather than remembrance. The state’s new digital memory system selectively “corrects” history, replacing trauma with approved narratives. Sibongile, long silenced for protecting forbidden memory scrolls, is summoned back when the archive collapses—literally and metaphorically. She meets Lwazi, a young bureaucrat trying to salvage the digital infrastructure, who discovers that Sibongile carries the last unaltered memory-fragments encoded in ash, braid, and whispered ritual. Together, they must choose whether to restore the Archive—or let it fracture permanently.
