Back in 2046, the United States had ceased to exist. It was extinguished, gone forever. This is where Riley Marie Staggs' story begins in the aftermath of events. At the age of seven, her world turned around yet again. Through her mother's teachings, Riley is trying to come to terms with a destiny that is not of her choosing. Her mere existence was and will always be for someone and something else.
By the time Riley becomes a teenager, she starts to question why she has been trained and taught what she has been. She resents the fact her father died when she was younger somehow believing if he were still alive things would be different. As she starts to rebel against her mother, there is a tragedy, and now she is left alone to fend for herself until the boy she has been contracted to marry returns.
Riley herself doesn't know whom she should trust anymore because with the state things are in someone close to her is the enemy.
