The Falcon's Quill

Tensions over the use of the great Trade Road, connecting the Latin Empire to the supply of Electrum far to the north, have placed pressure on the Celtic and Germanic Kingdoms. Rather than go to war, the newly crowned King Garbhan of Boham seeks to build a road through the Kingdom of Vandalis that connects in Kalisia with the rest of the Trade Road. He has offered the hand of his eldest daughter, Saoirse, to the grieving Prince Jorlin, who lost his first wife two years previous.
But the caravan of the princess is waylaid on the road by Baron Flotow's men in the Kingdom of Mundur. All but one of the guards are killed and the princess taken. Fearing for her safety, Prince Jorlin comes up with a plan to send Lamara the Falcon, with the aid of Drystan the Quill, to rescue the princess. King Larkin agrees to his son's plan, fearing war with the Kingdom of Boham, who previously did severe damage to Vandalis.
But Lamara the Falcon, just returned from escaping captivity in Mundur, has a price on her head in that kingdom as well as a secret she is desperate to hide. And Drystan, asked to portray a bard, has never left the castle. Yet the fate of the kingdom rests on their ability to overcome the odds and gain access to the Baron's stronghold.
