The Groans of Believers considers the struggles within the Christians soul. While we are in our mortal bodies, discouragements will assail us but shall not prevail because of Christ's victory over all. He will be faithful to uphold His people with His fatherly care. With this consolation, Erskine reminds the reader of that glorious truth that "the groanings of the righteous are but short, and their jubilee and triumph shall be everlasting."
