The Year is 2040, the war was lost, and the revolution betrayed from within. Notwithstanding, five men of the civil guard, a reformed provisional police service, are accused of the murder of a crime-lord in the north of England. The civil guard share the role of administering justice upon a district, once a hotbed of revolutionaries, with an occupying American gendarme, a far more militarised and indifferent police force. The five protagonists each wrestle with personal vices, lingering demons and respective embitterment, as fate sees to it their violent and impulsive paths cross. A chief inspector struggles to defend her favourite guardsmen from the wrath of her own superiors, as old wounds resurface, and loyalties are tested between lovers, friends and comrades alike...
