The Hedgehog's Clue

Meet Lowan, a telepathic alien working as a private detective in the 1930s!

After completing a job for the British Museum, Lowan wants to spend the rest of his time in London on wireless research. He did not expect a Bronze Age artifact that distorts radio signals, a trail of coded messages, or an eccentric inventor who carries a hedgehog in his pocket. When widespread radio interference attracts the attention of the BBC, the Museum's researchers must decide how far they'll go to protect the artifact.

Meanwhile, Detective Lieutenant Marx is supposed to be learning about Scotland Yard's methods. Unarmed, overwhelmed, and out of his element, Marx ends up in the middle of an investigation linking a missing clerk from a government office to a woman with a false name—and foreign spies.

As their paths collide, the trail winds from the British Museum to Bloomsbury flats, an international café, and a derelict gasworks. Lowan and Marx uncover a conspiracy that stretches beyond theft and kidnapping. Is the museum's artifact a scientific anomaly, a weapon, or the key to an international plot?

Each answer only deepens the danger. Two missing men, a murdered constable, a car chase through London streets, a robbery at the British Museum, and a deadly secret.

The signal is real. The danger is worse.

S. E. Grosskopf's writing is strongly influenced by the old pulp fiction magazines and Golden Age radio dramas of the 1930s-1950s. If you like fast-paced action and mystery with a dash of urban fantasy and quirkiness, then you'll love these books. This is the twenty-second book in the series. The books follow chronologically. Reading them in order is recommended.
