Robert William Chambers (May 26, 1865 – December 16, 1933) - The American writer, and artist who became famous because of a series of short stories The King in Yellow. He was born in Brooklyn in a family of well-known lawyer. Brother Robert was a famous architect. The writer was educated at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, then studied at the Paris École des Beaux-Arts. When the writer returned to New York, he began working on his first and most successful story - The King in Yellow. During the First World War, he wrote a number of works on military subjects.
