The Language of Rhythm

This book was designed as a curriculum for drum set students, of varying ability levels, who are either learning diligently on their own, or with the guidance of a drum teacher. While the main intent of this book is to teach beginners and experienced drummers how to play the drums well, other musicians such as songwriters, who do not play the drums, may also find this book helpful in utilizing the rhythm theory that it contains for their musical compositions. For example, two-bar patterns, triplets, drum fills and syncopation etc., are essential aspects in the creation of contemporary music. Therefore, this book will be useful for learning how to create time and space within the sound-scape of a piece of music and how to master several rhythmic concepts.
