The adventure begins when Hawkeye, along with his friends and partners Chingachgook and Uncas, rescues the daughters of a British colonel from the villainous Magua. Soon the three frontiersman are tangled up in conflicting alliances and escalating violence, trying to protect their own lives and the lives of innocents.
