The Marriage Beat

When headstrong Megan Summers (literally) crashes into Officer Tyler Jackson on her way to the precinct to report a mugging, it’s not long before she’d argued her way into his passenger seat so that they can chase down the culprit. When he ultimately evades them, however, she’s left sitting opposite Officer Jackson in his office while he delivers the world’s most irritating lecture on safety.
She’s ready to write it all off as a bad day and poor policework, but when Tyler’s meddling boss gets involved, Tyler is stuck offering her personal self-defense lessons. And then things go from bad to worse: After a particularly tense lesson, Megan’s arm ends up in a sling. Feeling reluctantly responsible—and certain she’ll end up injuring herself further without supervision—Tyler insists on taking care of her until she’s (figuratively) back on her feet.
Though annoyed by Tyler’s constant presence and endless orders, Megan can’t deny that she’s grateful for the help. And the more time they spend together, the easier it is for her to glimpse the kind-hearted man behind the domineering exterior, and for him to discover the cleverness behind her stubborn nature.
But in their short time together, can he loosen his desperate hold on control and trust Megan’s choices for herself? And can she let down her guard and let someone care for her completely?
