Love has blossomed quickly between Dan and Alanah, and her trust in him has been greatly rewarded. Alanah, having been freed from being the sacrifice that would have elevated Dan to the leadership of the Family of the Eternal Life, or conceivably to a horrific death, their love had blossomed quickly to become real, honest and undying.
