In 1820 Britain was not a happy country. For many people the reward for defeating Napoleon five years previously was high taxes and prices, poverty and hunger. Clamour for reform developed into a plot against the Government known as the “Cato Street Conspiracy”, which was foiled by George Edwards, a Home Office spy. This is his story.
