The New Teacher

The driver didn’t even look at her, he just issued a ticket. Keeping quiet, trying not to be noticed, she kept to herself. The girls in a group of teenagers pulled her into their group with questions, then the boys joined in, including her in friendly chatter and teasing. Maybe it was the euphoria of getting the job but she felt glad to have met them.

Susan had got onto the wrong bus so they offered to give her a lift back into town. A friend with a van was driving them back from the club. She joined them at a rave spending her time with one of the guys. A nice handsome young man who talked to her, about her rather than himself.

How they ended up rolling in the hay in a disused warehouse, she had no idea. It was nice but not a sensible thing to do. Especially not with a stranger. It was even worse on Monday morning when he walked into her classroom. She didn’t know if her heart was throbbing from fear or affection.
