The North Pole

Peary's own account of the 1908-09 expedition and the dash for the pole in April 1909 - the ship, the Inuit drivers, the depots and the final march with Matthew Henson. The claim was disputed within days by Cook and is disputed still. This edition is bound with 60 plates of paintings by Caspar David Friedrich, Ivan Aivazovsky and others, and includes 48 restored and coloured illustrations.
