The delightful poem The Pied Piper, by Robert Browning, has been a classic of children’s literature since its publication in 1842. It inspired Kate Greenaway (1846-1901) to make illustrations showing the quaint costume of her parents’ childhood, to evoke a gentler and more magical world. The story is read with charm and character—and the proper British accent—by singer and vocal trainer Stella Arman. Our audio presentation also features Gordon Jacob’s Pied Piper suite for flute and piccolo to deepen the piper's spell as he leads his innocent followers a merry dance. 


The story, originally collected by the Brothers Grimm about 1800, retells a well-known cautionary tale about keeping your word and the power of music and magic.
