The novel is told in alternating chapters, beginning with Wesley Archer Price. Wesley is a young man with all the money and prestige in the world - who tries with everything he can to screw it up. Owen "Pigeon" King - our hero so to speak - is a young man who lives in the present; working the streets of New York, selling drugs and savoring moments.

​​​​​​​Wesley, our anti-hero, coasts along on his father's money, a child of means but who means nothing. Owen, amazingly so, is the actual real person in this world.
