Zane is your typical fourteen-year-old; however, what isn’t typical is the world he lives in. ECHO is a biosphere on a new world that is being terraformed for several generations. Inside ECHO, the level you're born into dictates how well you exist. Unfortunately, Zane was born into the lowest level, the Pipes.

When Zane witnesses a violent act one night, he is thrusted headlong into danger. His life becomes complicated further when a mysterious donor steps forward and pays for his education. Thrown headfirst into learning new skills, which will help him move up the level system, he realizes the higher he goes, the bigger the target he becomes. Not knowing who to trust, he has to rely on his street instincts if he's going to survive and make it to the top.
