The Rising Son is the story of a boy, a pub, and a remarkable woman. The war was WW2. The woman was his mother. And the pub was opposite the main gates of Chelsea Football Club in London. The story concerns the brief springtime when the author was temporarily a person before morphing into a husband, a parent, and a grandparent.
