The Temple Quest

Beginning with the Patriarchal narratives, a site known as HaMakom (The Place) became recognised and embedded within the nation's soul as unique and special. It continues to appear and become further embedded through Moses, David and the Prophets of Israel. Its importance and location can remain somewhat hidden to the modern reader, although it is David who eventually staples it to a location recognisable to us. Only by seeing HaMakom through the eyes of ancient Israel can we appreciate what was meant, and where this special site was.
