Helen Adams Keller was born on June 27, 1880, in Tuscumbia, Alabama. She was an American author, lecturer and political activist, and the first deaf-blind person who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a deaf-blind, but very talented and successful woman. She was born with the ability to see and hear, but due to the illness, she suffered at the age of 19 months, she lost her sight and hearing ability. Slowly, she developed more than 60 signs which she used to communicate with her family.

But her condition didn’t limit her. She learned to read and even speak in several languages and graduated with honors from Radcliffe College. In her life, she authored thirteen books, a lot of articles and devoted her life to social reform. Also, she started several foundations that helped the deaf and blind around the world.

She died in her sleep on June 1, 1968, at her home in Easton, Connecticut.

This book is her biography. It is an insight of her mind and her life. In it, she explains her world of touch, smell, and taste, and how touch and feeling allowed her to experience the world. She describes her sensations and the workings of her imagination.
