The Wrong Twin

Two boys, one adopted into money and one left with none, grow up in a small American town and go to the same war, and the town's opinion of which of them is the wrong twin keeps changing. Harry Leon Wilson wrote comic novels for the Saturday Evening Post and slipped this one past his readers as a comedy. The joke is arranged so that the reader makes the same mistake as the town. Fifty-three paintings by John Sloan and George Bellows, from Bleecker Street to the Avenue of the Allies, carry the town's crowded streets and wartime years alongside the text.
