Dromore Island – a tiny island off the west coast of Ireland, home to an Italian cosmetics factory and a small colony of hippies.
When the local community guard – only a few weeks into his first ever posting – falls to his death from a cliff, his girlfriend writes to the police commissioner claiming his death was not an accident. He had told her of his suspicions about the activities of some of the people on the island and that he was going to investigate further. A few days later, he was dead.
The commissioner needs someone to go undercover to investigate. Someone to play the part of a hard drinking disgruntled guard who has no interest in doing anything but enjoying the easy life on the island.
