PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Soon after Rufus Emeterio, 17, and Mateo Torrez, 18, receive midnight phone calls from Death-Cast, a service that notifies those with less than 24 hours to live, the New York City teenagers connect via the Last Friend app and decide to spend their final hours together. Both have been dealt harsh hands even before getting the call: Mateo's mother died giving birth to him and his father's in a coma. Rufus is the only survivor of a car crash that killed his entire family. Over the course of an eventful day, these thoughtful young men speak honestly and movingly about their fate, their anger at its unfairness, and what it means to be alive, until their budding friendship organically turns into something more. Each tells his part of the story in alternating, time-stamped chapters. Other voices mostly friends from Rufus's foster home and people they encounter fill out the narrative, revealing the influence both boys have had on those around them. It hardly matters that the title telegraphs the ending; it's still heartbreaking when it arrives. Ages 14 up.

Sehr emotional
Tolles Buch!👍✨
If u like crying sessions at 2am this is your book!
Disclaimer! This review contains spoilers.
I’ve been really sceptic about this book since the title presumably reveals the end of this book. And even though it actually does reveal the end of it, this book didn’t disappoint me in any possible way.
A love story of two boys who are faced with their non changeable destiny of dying - sounds really basic at the beginning. However the author doesn’t disappoint in making this whole thing feel incredibly tragic.
It’s a system or some supernatural forecast these boys are aware of and they don’t seem to try to change it even though they hope death won’t come for them.
It’s a devastating story that should remind you of living your life to the fullest and never waste a second because every second could be your last.
my fav book ever
I usually don't read too quick and often but I started reading this one and wasn't able to stop. The perspective change makes it exciting and the story is great. The style of the writer is just perfect for this one, great work!
