They Call It Molar City

I felt a twinge of apprehension as I packed my bags for a trip to Los Algadones, Mexico. This small border town was not new to me. I’d been there a couple of times with my father for his dental work. This would be my first time alone.
The decision to have dental work done in Mexico was easy: $1400 for a crown in the U.S. vs. $200 by dentists in Algadones. The cause for my apprehension was the fact that I needed to arrive on Monday and return home on Wednesday. What was I going to do all that time?
I’m in the process of writing a novel, and it would be easy to spend my down time on my computer, writing. But, would my computer be safe while I’m at the dentist? I’ve never stayed at a motel in Mexico. I was unsure of how safe it was. I tossed in my story outline, a tablet, and zipped up my carryon. I left the computer behind.
When I arrived, I crossed the border into Los Algadones on foot, asked directions a couple of times and located the Hotel California Suites. As I walked into the office a smiling man named, Armondo, greeted me.
“Welcome to the Hotel California, You know you can never leave.” (Ha, ha, thank you Eagles.)
