Tibet (Xizang) Autonomous Region (Zang for short) is situated in the Southwest of China and Southwest of Qingzang Tableland, bordering with countries like Xinjiang, Qinghai, Sichuan and Yunnan inside and Burma, India, Bhutan, Nepal and Kashmir Region outside, having an international boundary of 4000 kilometres. Tibet, as the backbone of the snowy Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, is dubbed as the “Roof of the World”for its entire land is over 4000 metres above sea level. It has more than 50 mountains whose elevation is above 7000 kilometers, during which has 11 Mountains whose elevation is above 8000 kilometers, besides South Pole and North Pole, it enjoys a reputation that “The Third Pole in The World”. The Mount Qomolangma (Everest), erected on the border between China and Nepal, is the world's highest mount, with an altitude of 8844.43 metres above sea level. As Tibet is situated over the plateau, the climate varies obviously in vertical and the temperature difference in the day time and at night is extremely big.
