When children face adult situations and find it in their soul to search for a solution, to take action to resolve an unfathomable cycle, to strive so hard to reach the joy that life has to offer, then this coming of age story of a teenage girl with an abusive father has much to tell us, as adults, about how we should see ourselves, our children and the importance of family. At times we see Tilly as a heroine and at times a villain but we always see her as a victim of the life she had no choice but to live while searching for the happiness of life that always seems to be just the other side of the next death.
