A biographer and grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, he has written widely on the Indian independence movement and its leaders, Indo-Pakistan relations, human rights and conflict resolution. He is also a former member of the Indian Parliament and a recipient of several international awards including the International Humanitarian Award.
