Kathryn Beals was still a teenager when she set out across the United States on the Keith-Orpheum vaudeville circuit at the height of the Roaring Twenties. With a sharp eye and occasionally a sharp tongue she described backstage life, the celebrities she witnessed and the advent of talking movies, without realizing they were destroying her livelihood.
