A NUMBER ONE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

For years, rumours of the 'Marsh Girl' have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life - until the unthinkable happens.

'[It] will reach a huge audience though the writer's old-fashioned talents for compelling character, plotting and landscape description' Guardian

Absolut Recommendation

Great story telling. Lovable protagonist. Convincing combination of suspense, nature writing and human nature interest. Precise and poetic writing.

Stunning!

I loved this book so much! I was totally taken into the world of and fascinated by Kya.

It was easy to imagine the picturesque marsh and the interaction of the MC with the animals. Also the story felt fast paced, despite all the descriptions and the lonesomeness. This book gave me great escapeism! (An additional recommandation: You probably get more out of this Book, if you read it in your mother-tounge. I did not and I had to look up a lot of words reagarding the wildlife and plants. - On the other hand a great way to expand the vocabulary ;) ).

Awestruck

This book is beyond brilliant. I loved it so much that I had to pause reading, for fear that this book will end too soon. This book is a beautiful work of art und I recommend it dearly to everyone who stumbled upon it! The landscape descriptions are so vivid that you can feel the marsh around yourself and the emotions of the protagonist are so raw and real. I cried and laughed with this book. It will forever hold a place in my heart!
