Tying up loose ends from Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues and setting the stage for the next book, Angel's third outing paddles into the tepid waters of middle-book syndrome, but there's enough zombie action and humor to keep series fans invested. Angel remains a likable underdog, striving to improve her lot as well as living the life of an ethical zombie: the reader never loses sight of the fact that in life she was dealt a rough hand poverty, dyslexia, a neglectful mother and no amount of zombie-mojo will make that go away entirely.
