Initially, the story focuses on four young men, freshly graduated from a prestigious university and starting out in adult life. But a darker tone rapidly creeps in as one of the four, Jude, self-harms frequently as a method of dealing with decades of sexual abuse. As harrowing as A Little Life can be, it raises many important points about the profound, lifelong effects of abuse, and the nature of friendship, love and pain. This audiobook adaptation, new for 2025, provides another lens with which to examine these issues.
