Joan Merrill, author of the Casey McKie jazz mystery series, announces the release of her latest audiobook, “And All That Motive,” narrated by longtime Bay Area jazz radio host Alisa Clancy.

Set at a festival near San Francisco, “And All that Motive” has Casey racing against time to solve the killing of jazz singer Sid Satin and remove suspicion from her best friend, club owner and singer Dee Jefferson. Sorting through a raft of suspects, Casey unravels the mystery with one of the most surprising endings of the five-book series.

“While reading this book, one can practically hear the bebop-oriented soundtrack.” -- Scott Yanow, Los Angeles Times

“The author did a great job of keeping things 'real’.” -- jazz singer Shanna Carlson

“Exceptionally intelligent.” -- jazz singer Carol Sloane

“Tough yet warm with a hint of sexiness, (Clancy) sounds like someone you would both like and be careful not to mess with.” -- Bruce Crowther, Jazz Journal

Joan Merrill has produced 14 shows for NPR’s Peabody Award-winning “Jazz Profiles,” a PBS documentary, several CDs and tribute shows for Doris Day, Peggy Lee, and “Country Girls,” featuring Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette and others. She created the comprehensive carmencrae.com website and worked with Ernestine Anderson, Rebecca Parris, Denise Perrier and Kristi King.
