This year marks Neil Sedaka's 50th in the music business. He was part of the original creators of the "Brill Building sound" of the late 50s and early 60s. His early songs "Stupid Cupid" and "Where the Boys Are" were hits by Connie Francis. He wrote "Puppet Man" and "Workin' on a Groovy Thing", which were recorded by The Fifth Dimension. Later, Sedaka went on to perform his songs "The Diary", "Calendar Girl", "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do", and "Laughter in the Rain". Sedaka has been inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. He also has a new collection of his songs entitled The Definitive Collection.

Then, Maureen Corrigan reviews Edith Wharton, a new biography of the famous writer by Hermione Lee. [Broadcast Date: April 16, 2007]
