Golden Son continues the stunning saga of Darrow, a rebel forged by tragedy, battling to lead his oppressed people to freedom from the overlords of a brutal elitist future built on lies. Now fully embedded among the Gold ruling class, Darrow continues his work to bring down Society from within. A life-or-death tale of vengeance with an unforgettable hero at its heart, Golden Son guarantees Pierce Brown's continuing status as one of fiction's most exciting new voices.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The Hunger Games meets The Will of the Many—but in space—in Pierce Brown’s follow-up to Red Rising. Two years after the events of that book, Darrow, the lowly Red miner from Mars who’s infiltrated the Gold warrior elites, is still determined to tear their caste system down from the inside and gain revenge for death of his beloved wife. The actions he must take as a disguised member of their brutally competitive society make him many enemies, and his ties to a Red rebel group mean that he must one day betray his new Gold friends. We loved this violent, thrilling tangle of space battles, sword duels, secret meetings, and ever-shifting loyalties. The quiet, bitter intensity of Tim Gerard Reynolds’ first-person narration really brings home the emotional storm roiling within this young man, as well as providing an exciting blow-by-blow to every conflict. This is space opera at its finest.
