The dazzlingly complex narrative involves a massive number of characters on multiple fronts, delivering epic adventure while revealing their inner lives and challenges. Across sections divided by the 10 days until the battle, Sanderson masterfully ties together strands of the story that have run through multiple books. Kate Reading and Michael Kramer’s transporting narration brings the drama, but they also know how to soft-pedal smaller-scale developments (which is pretty important for an almost 63-hour story).
