365˚ Westergasfabriek
Publisher Description
365 photos, all along the Westergasfabriek, an old Amsterdam gas plant. The plant opened in 1885 and closed in 1967. Until 1992 the gas and electricity authority used the place for maintenance and storage. In 1981 Amsterdam decided to clean up the site and create a multifunctional park.
Kathryn Gustafson’s design “Changement” was chosen and accomplished. “ ...The Events Field reflects the 1950s and 1960s. The ecological concerns of the 1970s and 1980s are evoked in the polder in the northwest. Attitudes to nature over past decades are reflected in the water garden: landscape is the sum of man and nature...”
I visit this park many times and one day I decided to do a four season photo shoot of the flowers, plants, grasses, trees and water garden of this beautiful green space.
