Amanda's Daddy

Taking care of the chicken farm and her sick mother takes up all of Amanda’s time. She’s never been able to meet young men and court like a proper young lady. Now she’s firmly a spinster at 32, and knows there are no prospects in the future for her. 


Then she meets Rocky Pascal. He’s a hardworking cow hand with a surprising past. He’s also seven years younger than Amanda, which, to Amanda’s mind, puts him off limits. Rocky has no such compunctions, however, and pursues her actively. When Rocky volunteers to do some heavy work around the chicken farm, Amanda is both thrilled and wary. He chastises her for letting the farm get so dilapidated and points out that it’s time she had a daddy to take care of her. 


Amanda hasn’t had a daddy since she was four. Is this the answer to her prayers, or the stuff of nightmares?
