Athos or Sacred Mountain is east branch of the peninsula Chalkidiki and is washed by waters of the Aegean Sea. He has length of 60 km, width from 8 to 12 km and occupies the space in 360 sq.km. The ridge of the peninsula, having insignificant height at an isthmus which he unites to Macedonia, further gradually rises up, and by the sea comes to an end with a height which height reaches 2033 m. It is also Mount Athos which has given the name to all peninsula.
