Bravo, Lenny Bernstein‪!‬

Meet Lenny—a boy filled with dreams, who would grow up to be the famous composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. A narrative nonfiction picture book for music-loving kids ages 7–10.

Before Leonard Bernstein was a world-famous maestro, he was a boy who didn’t always get along with his father. Young Lenny knew that music was his passion and he would stop at nothing to make it his career. His father, Sam, could only think of the poor traveling musicians back in Russia, playing for nothing more than a meal–and that was no life for his son! But Lenny kept on playing and listening and learning, becoming an ever better musician.

Would Lenny achieve his dreams despite his father’s doubts and worries? Follow Leonard Bernstein’s journey from listening to records on the phonograph, to organizing musical productions, to, finally, conducting at Carnegie Hall—with his father's blessing.
