Coverdale Bible

Publisher Description

The Coverdale Bible, printed in October 1535, drew upon a diverse range of sources to bring the Scriptures to the English-speaking world. Influenced by texts such as the Zurich Bible of Zwingli, the Vulgate, and Luther's Bible, Coverdale's work also built upon the foundational translations of William Tyndale, particularly in the New Testament.

The Coverdale Bible, was the first complete printed translation of the Bible into English.

The Coverdale Bible acknowledges the profound influence of William Tyndale, who, despite being martyred for his efforts to translate the Bible into English, laid the foundation for subsequent English translations of the Bible.
