Publisher Description

US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are thrust into a high-profile case when they are called on to transport two prisoners across the country on a private plane. But when the plane experiences engine trouble en route from the Pacific Northwest to Colorado, the pilots crash-land the aircraft deep in the heart of the sprawling Salmon-Challis National Forest.

When Madison and Jonas regain consciousness, they find both pilots and one prisoner dead--and one fugitive on the run. They'll have to negotiate the rugged and remote backcountry through Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado while tracking a murderer who is desperate to disappear--and will do anything to stop them.

This high-octane game of cat-and-mouse from bestselling and award-winning author Lisa Harris will have your heart pumping as you try to catch a fugitive with nothing to lose.

Meh

I was disappointed when I read this. I really liked the plot, and I even liked the characters. But some of the major trauma that happened, they just glanced over - like it hadn’t even affected them. Like, they were in a PLANECRASH - and within the next few days, they take two different flights, without any remote feeling of anxiousness. And on the second flight he even tell her that he could use the time to relax!? 🙄
I like the idea of this intelligent fugitive they have to outsmart. But the soooo, many near catches, makes it seemed redundant. And there is no personal stake involved. They have explained nothing about feeling guilty about him escaping them, or any other emotion that would heighten the stakes. And not at any point do any of them boil over at the stress - they just get get tired occasionally and that’s the extant of it (well, and bruised occasionally on the hunt. But any bruising is quickly forgotten about and never remarked upon again)
Anyways I’m rambling. As I said, I guess it’s not a terrible book. If it was a really cheap book, I probably wouldnt even have bothered writing this. But this is one of the more expensive once’s, and it’s just not worth it (in my opinion)
